This past Friday, Adriel wrote a very encouraging post about beating the end of January blues if the year hasn’t started out like you had hoped. I thought this guest post from our new friend Sarah Coleman was the perfect follow up. I just love Sarah’s expectant heart and I believe her words will light a fire in your heart if you are feeling discouraged as we move into February. Be blessed mamas! – Jess
What are you expecting in 2014? Your answer may be, “A baby!” How exciting. Or it might be a new house, job, or a special holiday. Whatever it is, I encourage you to get your hopes up for an amazing year. Your best yet!
Since completing the Expecting Daily Pregnancy Devotion {yes, a shameless plug}, conception and expectant parents lie heavy on my heart. I find myself praying for pregnant women whenever I see them walking through shopping centres. I believe in faith for a blessed delivery and healthy baby.
Proverbs tells us that there are seven things which are never satisfied. One of them is a barren womb. You see, I believe God designed us to be expecting something fresh. He is doing a new thing. He does not want our lives to be barren and lifeless. The Father desires that we give birth to dreams that bring joy and fulfilment. If life is dissatisfying, seek God that you may conceive something new in Him.
So, whether you are expecting a child in the physical, or anticipate something great is about to happen in the supernatural, here are a few thoughts on expecting wondrous things from God in 2014.
Get your hopes up!
If you are believing to conceive a baby, get your hopes up! This is your year. I love the story of Elisha and the Shunamite woman. God knew she desired children, but had given up. The Word of the Lord came to her, but she did not want to get her hopes up. {See 2 Kings 4:8-37 for the full story.} In contrast, Mary the mother of Jesus replied, “Let it be to me,” when she received a Word from God. You know the response God wants you to have. Get your hopes up!
Banish fear and doubt.
I had wonderful pregnancies. However, thoughts of fear and doubt would flood my thoughts often. I had to renew my mind to the Word of God, and His promises, each evening. The devil will attempt to abort what God has begun in you through fear. The dreams in your heart will come to pass. Hold on to His Word and His love. Perfect love casts out fear. {1 John 4:18}
Trust His timing.
The Hebrew word “qarah” essentially means, “positioned for right happenings.” As a child of God, His favour will position you for right happenings. In other words, you will be in the right place, at the right time. God’s ways are higher than ours, so trust His perfect timing in your life. He will deliver your dreams, at the ideal moment. And if you happen to be expecting a baby, believe that she will be born in His timing and peace.
Yes, 2014 will be a remarkable year.
Expect God.
